Dear Readers,
I can hardly believe that we are beginning a new year of The Flow with this Spring 2012 issue, the Forms of Function. This theme illustrates how glass has the ability, in the hands of the artist, to become something useful rather than merely beautiful or ornamental and shows how utility and practicality can also drive the creative process.
We are proud to continue supporting up-and-coming flameworkers by joining with Glasscraft Inc. and our sister publications, Glass Art and Glass Patterns Quarterly, in announcing the 2011 winner of the Glasscraft Emerging Artist Award, Zachary Jorgenson. Our sincerest congratulations to Zachary and to all of the 2011 nominees who are using their talents to expand the world of glass art.
