Russian glass artist Irina Sergeeva demonstrates her technique in building a chrysanthemum from hot glass. She shows us how to create petals with subtle shading differences, then keeps them warm on a large hot plate as she applies them to a half-round center. Once the flower is complete, Irina illustrates how to gently remove it from its mandrel before annealing it in a kiln.
