Your invited to the first-ever STEAM Off, a scientific glassblowing competition and new edition to the Tucson Glass Festival. This year's TGF focuses on the science behind the art of glass making, and Dr. Roger Angel, the brains behind the UA's prestigious Mirror Lab, is judging the STEAM Off competition. Below you'll find tons of interesting information on the STEAM Off, and we hope you're as excited as we are bringing this event to the Tucson community.

The STEAM Off is a glassblowing competition designed to entertain and educate our community about the science behind the glass arts.
It's a 12-artist competition with some of the artists working in teams. The UA's Mirror Lab Director Roger Angel, Ph.D., winner of the 2010 Kavli Prize in Astrophysics, will judge who takes home a $1,000 prize.

Competitors are among Arizona's best glass artists, fighting to create the work of art that incorporates all five elements of S.T.E.A.M. (an growing educational philosophy emphasizing science, technology, engineering, art, and math) best.
